Drug Uses
 

Rogaine 5% is a vasodilator that is used in men who are suffering from symptoms of hair loss like gradually thinning hair and hair loss on the top of the head.

How it is taken

Before using Rogaine wash your scalp with a shampoo and dry it thoroughly. Apply it evenly on the scalp and wash your hands immediately. Leave it on the scalp for at least 4 hours. Do not let it get wet by either swimming or rain water.

Do not use other hair care products until this is dry.

Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Rogaine 5% then you may take it as soon as you remember and adjust the remaining doses accordingly. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose then you may skip this dose and continue with the regular dosage. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Rogaine 5% is harmful if swallowed. Seek medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose.
 

Warnings/Precautions
Discuss with your doctor about any prior medical condition that you may have including allergies to medicines, food or other substances, if you have heart or blood problems.

You must not take if you are allergic to any ingredient in it.

If you are pregnant or suspect that you are, then stop using Rogaine 5% and contact your doctor immediately.

It is unknown whether Rogaine 5% is secreted in breast milk. Avoid breast feeding while using the drug.

Avoid getting Rogaine in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you get Rogaine in your eyes, wash them out with cool tap water. Temporary hair loss may continue for up to 2 weeks after beginning use with Rogaine.

Contact your doctor if you continue to lose hair after 2 weeks. Several months may pass before you see improvement. If you do not see improvement after 4 months, check with your doctor. Do not use on scalp that is irritated or sunburned.

Rogaine will not improve hair loss caused by grooming methods (eg, ponytails, braiding) or the use of other hair care products that cause scarring or deep burns on the scalp.

Rogaine is not recommended for use in children, safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
 

Possible Side Effects
Some of the common side effects of are burning or irritation of the eye, itching, redness or irritation at the treated area, unwanted hair growth elsewhere on the body. Please contact your doctor if the symptoms persist or become bothersome.

Other severe side effects include allergic reactions (rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), chest pain, dizziness, fainting, fast heartbeat, sudden, unexplained weight gain, swollen hands or feet.
You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur.
