Generic Motrin (Ibuprofen)

Drug Uses

Generic Motrin is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used in adults for relief of the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, menstrual cramps, mild to moderate pain and osteoarthritis.
It may also be used for other conditions like to reduce fever in children.

How it is taken

Take Generic Motrin by mouth preferably with a meal or milk or an antacid. The maximum daily dosage is 3200 mg.

Drug Class & Mechanism

Generic Mortin is an NSAID that blocks the enzyme that makes prostaglandins (cyclooxygenase), resulting in lower levels of prostaglandins, that are responsible for inflammation and pain. So, pain and fever are reduced.

Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose then you may take it as soon as you remember and adjust the remaining doses accordingly. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose then you may skip this dose and continue with the regular dosage. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Storage

Store it at room temperature (between between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) in an air tight container protecting it from direct exposure to light, heat and moisture. Keep away from pets and children.

Warnings/Precautions

You must not take Generic Motrin if you are allergic to any ingredient in it or have the syndrome of nasal polyps, angioedema and bronchospastic reactivity to aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents.

Serious gastrointestinal toxicity such as bleeding, ulceration, and perforation, can occur at any time, with or without warning symptoms.

Possible Side Effects

Some of the common side effects of are Blurred and/or diminished vision, scotomata, and/or changes in color vision have also been reported. Please contact your doctor if the symptoms persist or become bothersome.

Other severe side effects include allergic reactions an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), muscle cramps, numbness, or tingling, ulcers (open sores) in the mouth, rapid weight gain (fluid retention), seizures, decreased hearing or ringing in the ears, yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice), or abdominal cramping, indigestion, or heartburn.

You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur.
