Drug Name

Endep is commonly prescribed as an anti-depressant and is used for the treatment of major depression. However, it may also be used for the treatment of other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Usage

Endep needs to be consumed orally about 1-4 times daily with or without a meal. You must avoid taking grapefruit while taking Endep.

It may take up to 30 days for you to control the symptoms of depression and it is recommended that you continue to use it for the full course of treatment even if you feel well in a few days.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Endep is a psychoactive tricyclic antidepressant drug. The exact method of its functioning is not known. However, it increases the activity of certain chemicals in the brain which helps in improving the mood.

Missed Dosage

If you have missed a dose of Endep, then it is recommended that you skip the existing dose and continue with your regular dosage. Please do not take a double dose.

Storage

Store it at room temperature (between between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in an air tight container protecting it from direct exposure to light, heat and moisture. Keep away from pets and children.

Warnings/Precautions

Endep when combined with alcohol or certain other medications (sleep aids, muscle relaxers, other antidepressants) can cause serious side effects. So, do not drive or perform other potentially hazardous tasks until you know how your body reacts to the drug.

Avoid Grapefruit and grapefruit juice while using Endep.

Certain drugs can interact with and hence, mention clearly to your doctor or pharmacist all medicines, dietary supplements and herbal prescriptions that you are taking.

Endep may make you more sensitive to the sun so please avoid the sun, sunlamps or a tanning booth until you know how your body reacts to the drug. If you cannot avoid going out in the sun for a long while, then wear protective clothing or use a proper sunscreen.

Possible Side Effects

Some of the common side effects of are as nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, unpleasant taste, numbness or tingly feeling, lack of coordination, feeling anxious, dizzy, drowsy, or tired, trouble concentrating, sleep problems (insomnia), nightmares, blurred vision, headache, ringing in your ears, mild skin rash, breast swelling (in men or women), or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.

Please contact your doctor if the symptoms persist or become bothersome.

Other severe side effects include allergic reactions fast, pounding, or uneven heart rate, chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling, sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body, sudden headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance, confusion, hallucinations, or seizures (convulsions), restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck, uncontrollable shaking or tremor, skin rash, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness, easy bruising or bleeding, extreme thirst with headache, nausea, vomiting, and weakness, feeling light-headed, fainting, or urinating less than usual or not at all.

You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur.
